WEST FORK, Ark. (BFMG) — Arkansas State Police are investigating a double homicide after a couple was killed Saturday afternoon while hiking with their two young daughters at Devil’s Den State Park in Washington County.
The victims have been identified as Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, who had recently relocated to Prairie Grove. Their daughters, ages 7 and 9, were unharmed in the attack and are now in the care of family members, authorities said.
State police were alerted around 2:40 p.m. Saturday, July 26, to a report of two deceased individuals on a walking trail in the remote, rugged terrain of the park. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is leading the investigation.
On Sunday, investigators released an updated description of the suspect following new witness information.
The man is described as a white male with a medium build, wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, dark pants, a dark ballcap, sunglasses, fingerless gloves and carrying a black backpack. He was last seen driving a black, four-door sedan — possibly a Mazda — with a license plate obscured by electrical or duct tape.
The vehicle was reportedly heading toward a park exit and may have traveled on State Highway 170 or State Highway 220.
Authorities are asking park visitors who were in the area on Saturday to review their cellphone, GoPro, or other camera footage for images of the suspect or the vehicle. Residents near the park are also encouraged to check their security or game cameras and report any findings to police.
Officials caution against sharing any relevant images or videos publicly, warning that doing so could compromise the investigation. Tips and footage should be directed to Arkansas State Police Troop L at (479) 751-6663.
The portion of the park where the incident occurred remains closed as law enforcement continues to process the scene.
Shea Lewis, secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, issued a statement expressing condolences and reaffirming the department’s commitment to safety.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred at Devil’s Den State Park,” Lewis said. “Our hearts are with the victims’ loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. We remain committed to supporting the ongoing investigation and to maintaining Arkansas State Parks as safe, welcoming places for all.”
Lewis said law enforcement presence has been increased in state parks, and park rangers — who are fully commissioned law enforcement officers — are actively engaged in protecting visitors.
Arkansas State Police Col. Mike Hagar thanked the public and media for their cooperation.
“We are using all available resources to apprehend this suspect and bring him to justice,” Hagar said. “I want to thank the public and our media partners for their support as we pursue the man responsible for this heinous crime.”
The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from local, state and federal partners.
