CLEBURNE COUNTY, Ala. (BFMG) — Alabama authorities provided new details Monday about a body found over the weekend, believed to be that of a missing woman from Marysville, Ohio.
The remains were discovered approximately five miles from where the car belonging to the missing woman, preliminarily identified as Vendula (Wendy) Rose was located in early October. Rose, reported missing on Oct. 3, had been on a camping trip in Cleburne County but never returned home.
The body was found in a hammock-style tent in a secluded area, away from established paths and trails. Authorities said that, based on preliminary findings, there is no indication of foul play.
“We’re also looking into the possibility that she didn’t want to be found, given the remote location of her camp,” said Nolen, a spokesperson for the investigation. “However, without knowing her or her intentions, we can’t confirm or deny that.”
Search efforts began on Oct. 6 and included ground teams with dogs and aerial searches. Despite extensive efforts, Rose’s whereabouts remained a mystery until the weekend discovery.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to confirm the identity of the remains and determine the circumstances surrounding Rose’s disappearance and death.
