FALL CITY, Wash. (BFMG) — A 15-year-old boy has been charged with five counts of aggravated murder and one count of attempted murder following the deaths of his parents and three siblings. The victims, identified by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, include Mark Humiston, 43; Sarah Humiston, 42; Benjamin Humiston, 13; Joshua Humiston, 9; and Katheryn Humiston, 7. All suffered gunshot wounds to the head according to KIRO.
According to court documents, the boy initially called 911, claiming his 13-year-old brother was responsible for the murders. During the call, the suspect said he was hiding in a bathroom, asserting his brother shot the family and then committed suicide. However, a second 911 call from a neighbor revealed that the suspect’s surviving sister, who was wounded in the attack, identified her older brother as the shooter.
Investigators believe the 15-year-old “systematically murdered” his family, attempted to kill his younger sister, and staged the scene to blame his younger brother. Police say the Glock used in the attack was taken from a lockbox known only to the suspect.
Authorities are treating the case as domestic violence, with the investigation ongoing.
