SMYRNA, Ga. (BFMG) — An 18-year-old man has been charged after investigators say a witness spotted him carrying a plastic container that held a dismembered human torso at an apartment complex in Smyrna, Georgia.
Kingston Lammar Bradley, (18), is charged with felony concealing the death of another person, according to an arrest warrant.
The Smyrna Police Department (SPD) said officers responded around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday to a missing person call at Park Valley Apartments, located at 4590 Valley Parkway.
According to the warrant, a witness saw Bradley carrying a plastic tub through an open area of the apartment complex sometime between 8 p.m. and 8:28 p.m.
Investigators allege Bradley dropped the container on a dirt walkway and ran toward his nearby apartment after realizing he had been seen.
Authorities later determined the container held a dismembered human torso, according to the warrant.
Investigators obtained a warrant to search Bradley’s apartment, where officers reported finding bloodstains in several areas of the residence and a large saw covered in what appeared to be blood.
The warrant also describes a strong odor of bleach inside the apartment.
Police reported finding a mop bucket containing water, along with a mop and a carpet-cleaning machine.
According to the arrest warrant, investigators allege Bradley concealed the remains and hindered efforts to determine whether the person had been unlawfully killed.
The identity of the deceased woman has not been released. The warrant states the remains were awaiting formal identification.
Bradley is currently charged with concealing the death of another person. The arrest warrant provided by authorities does not list a murder charge.
SPD said the case remains an active homicide investigation. Detectives are continuing to collect evidence and conduct interviews as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Additional charges could be possible as the investigation continues, but authorities have not announced any further charges at this time.
