FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (BFMG) — Two people are dead, including the suspect, and three others are injured after a road-rage stabbing Sunday on Interstate 495 in Fairfax County, according to Virginia State Police.
Troopers responded around 1:17 p.m. to reports of a road-rage incident on I-495 southbound at Exit 52. When they arrived, they found four people suffering from stab wounds, including 39-year-old Michelle Adams, who later died from her injuries. A dog was also found dead at the scene.
State police said the suspect, identified as Jared Llamado, 32, of McLean, confronted troopers while armed with a knife. A trooper shot Llamado in self-defense, and he died at the scene. The trooper was not injured.
An initial investigation indicates the stabbing occurred after a crash on the interstate. Authorities said the incident is not believed to be related to terrorism.
The attack caused major traffic delays, shutting down all southbound lanes on the I-495 outer loop between Gallows Road and Little River Turnpike for several hours. The lanes have since reopened.
