GREENSBORO, Ala. (BFMG) — An Alabama mother and her three young children who were reported missing from Hale County have been located safe, according to family and authorities.
Family members and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) initially raised concerns after Cayla Hummel and her children were last seen June 22 in the area of Millwood Road in Greensboro. The children’s father, Tag Richardson, said the last time he saw them was over Father’s Day weekend and that he was scheduled to pick them up Friday, July 3, but Hummel never arrived.
Richardson said he became alarmed when repeated attempts to contact Hummel failed. He reached out to her father, who told him he had not seen or spoken with her since around the time the family was last reported seen, and that calls to both Hummel’s and Luna’s phones were going straight to voicemail.
ALEA issued information on the missing family, identifying the children as 6-year-old Sirius Richardson, 4-year-old Abram Richardson and 20-month-old Luna Richardson, and asking the public to be on alert.
Richardson publicly pleaded for their safe return and urged anyone who might see Hummel or the children to contact law enforcement.
Officials later confirmed the mother and children had been found safe, bringing relief to relatives and community members who had been watching the case closely.
