CHARLESTON, S.C. (BFMG) — Detectives with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in identifying the person or people responsible for the shooting death of 20-year-old Keonna Brown at a graduation party in Ladson.
Brown was attending a high school graduation celebration in the 9700 block of Tremont Avenue during the early morning hours of May 26 when gunfire broke out. She was struck and killed, authorities said.
“No arrests have been made, and detectives continue to actively investigate this case,” the agency said in a statement. The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Services Unit are leading the investigation.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700. People can also reach Detective Eric Melendez directly at 843-529-3542 or via email at emelendez@charlestoncounty.org. Tips can also be submitted anonymously by emailing tips@charlestoncounty.org.
Investigators believe more than 100 people were at the party at the time of the shooting. Despite the large crowd, fewer than a dozen attendees have come forward to provide information, according to the sheriff’s office.
