MULBERRY, Fla. (BFMG) — The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public assistance in identifying two suspects involved in a bizarre retail theft at the Family Dollar on Bailey Road in Mulberry on December 18, 2024. The incident, marked by a well thought out and unusual distraction tactic, has drawn attention for its putrid and peculiar details.
The Crime Scene
Around noon, a man and a woman entered the Family Dollar store at 2170 Bailey Road and allegedly carried out a coordinated theft. According to the PCSO case report #24-50686, the man roamed the aisles, collecting nearly $500 worth of merchandise. His items of choice included household cleaning products such as Gain, Tide, and Clorox. Meanwhile, his accomplice employed a highly unconventional method to divert the store employees’ attention: she voluntarily emptied her bowels onto the store’s floor in front of everyone.
PCSO spokespersons did not hold back in their description of the incident, referring to the suspects as “Mr. Clean” and “Ms. Dookie.” While the man conducted the burglary, store employees were preoccupied with addressing the woman’s behavior, which necessitated a massive clean-up effort.
The Getaway and Call to Action
After completing their acts, the pair fled the scene in a white Ford van. Despite their quick exit, authorities are hopeful that surveillance footage and community tips will lead to their identification and arrest.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with information about the suspects to come forward. Detective Hannon can be reached directly at 863-499-2400 or via email at RHannon@polksheriff.org. Additionally, individuals wishing to remain anonymous can contact Heartland Crime Stoppers online and via phone at 1-888-400-TIPS (8477) or by dialing, **TIPS from your cell phone.
Sheriff Grady Judd reminded the public of the seriousness of retail theft, stating, “While the circumstances of this case may sound outlandish, retail theft is a crime that impacts businesses and communities. We’re committed to holding these individuals accountable.”
As the investigation continues, the story of “Mr. Clean” and “Ms. Dookie” serves as a reminder that crime often comes with an unexpected twist. For now, the suspects remain at large, but authorities are optimistic that tips from the public will lead to a resolution.
