STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. (BFMG) — The family of Bilal Muhammad, 19, is organizing a community search effort on Sunday to locate the missing and endangered young man. Muhammad was last seen by his father on Friday night around 9 p.m. near New Lake Road in Stockbridge.
The Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert for Muhammad around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, confirming the case as a missing person investigation. Authorities noted that Muhammad is known to have bipolar schizophrenia, which has heightened concerns for his safety.
An official poster in his disappearance states he was last seen running eastbound on Alexanders Lake Road, heading toward New Lake Road. Muhammad is described as a Black male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing approximately 132 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, black pants with three white stripes on the sides—possibly with paint stains—and brown boots.
Calling on Community
The family has scheduled the search to take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. They are asking for community members to join and have created a sign up form linked below to coordinate efforts. The form collects participant information and allows volunteers to choose specific time blocks or multiple blocks throughout the day to assist in the search.
“Muhammad is originally from the U.S. Virgin Islands and doesn’t know many people in the area, which is surrounded by woods,” a family member said. “We’re relying on the community’s help to find him and bring him home safely.”
Authorities and the family are urging anyone with information about Muhammad’s whereabouts to contact Investigator D. Hinds at +1-770-278-8160 or via email at dylan.hinds@rockdalecountyga.gov.
The family also encourages community members to share information about Muhammad’s case and tag others on social media to increase awareness and support the search.
