LANDRUM, S.C. (BFMG) — The family of a missing Upstate man says authorities have temporarily paused its search for Dr. Daniel Highhouse who was last seen on May 20 around 1:30 P.M. at his place of employment in Asheville, NC.
According to a Facebook post, Highhouse’s vehicle was later found in the Chestnut Ridge Heritage Preserve in Landrum, SC his family says.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday and expected severe weather on Tuesday, the search efforts for Highhouse have been suspended, but despite extensive efforts involving both law enforcement and volunteers, Highhouse remains missing.
Family members say they are devastated and are urging the public to assist in any way possible—by joining search efforts or sharing information on social media.
“This is our worst nightmare,” a family member posted online. “We are begging anyone willing to help us search—we need answers. He could still be alive.”
Anyone with information about Highhouse’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Asheville Police Department immediately.
We’ve reached out to Asheville Police Department for inquiry, but was told the officer who took the report won’t return until Monday evening.
