GREENVILLE, S.C. (BFMG) — Authorities say there is no indication of foul play in the deaths of two men found at a Greenville motel this week.
Deputies discovered the bodies of Alvaro Hinojosa, 33, and Jose Gomez, 43, in a room at the Budget Inn Greenville, located at 224 Bruce Road near Interstate 85, around 10 a.m. ET on Nov. 13.
According to the motel’s manager, authorities were alerted after a housekeeper found a third person in the room, bloodied and calling for help through a broken window. The third individual, who has not been identified, was transported to a hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office is awaiting toxicology results for Hinojosa and Gomez, leaving their official causes of death undetermined. However, Lt. Ryan Flood with the Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident is not being treated as a homicide. Both men were from Texas, Hinojosa from Hildalgo and Gomez from Edinburg, according to a news release from the coroner’s office. A motel employee noted the guests had checked in on Nov. 6.
At the scene, Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis said authorities have previously responded to the motel for drug-related overdoses.
According to the Post and Courier, data from the Sheriff’s Office indicates deputies have been called to the Budget Inn 229 times so far in 2024, primarily for disturbances, reports of suspicious persons, and trespassing. In 2023, there were 244 responses, including 60 disturbance calls. In 2020, when the motel operated as the Econo Lodge, 125 service calls were reported.
