Four Dead, Three Injured in Florence Mass Shooting Incident

FLORENCE, Ky. (BFMG) — Police in Florence Kentucky have responded to a mass shooting overnight where four are dead and three are critically injured, but expected to recover from their injuries.

At approximately 2:50 a.m., police received a report of shots fired, prompting an immediate response to the Ridgecrest Drive residence. Upon arrival, officers were met with the continued sound of gunshots, leading them to cautiously approach the scene.

As officers moved in, they discovered multiple victims within the residence. The scene was chaotic, with partygoers frantically providing information to the authorities. According to witnesses, the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers quickly relayed the vehicle description to other responding units in the area.

While en route to the neighborhood, a Florence officer and a deputy from the Kenton County Sheriff’s Office spotted a vehicle matching the suspect’s description. Attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful as the driver fled at high speed. During the pursuit, the suspect, believed to be the shooter, shot himself, causing the vehicle to crash. The suspect was immediately transported to St. Elizabeth Florence, where he was later pronounced dead.

Back at the Ridgecrest Drive residence, the scene was one of devastation. Officers and emergency medical personnel rendered first aid to several victims. Three individuals were transported to UC Medical Center in Cincinnati. Thankfully, these victims are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.

However, the tragedy did not end there. Four individuals were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were identified as Shane Miller, 20, of Florence; Hayden Orvick, 20, of Elsmere; Delaney Eary, 19, of Burlington; and Melissa Parrott, 44, of Florence. The gathering was a celebration of the 21st birthday of Parrott’s son, making the event all the more heartbreaking.

The suspected shooter, identified as Chase Garvey, 20, of Florence, was known to the partygoers. According to witnesses, Garvey fled the scene after the shooting, leading to the subsequent police chase and his eventual death.

The community of Florence is reeling from this senseless act of violence. Friends and family members of the victims are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones.
