SAVANNAH, Ga. (BFMG) — Leilani Simon has been found guilty of malice murder and other charges in the death of her 20-month-old son, Quinton Simon. The child went missing in October 2022, and after weeks of searches, authorities found his remains in a landfill. Prosecutors argued that Simon killed her son and discarded his body in a dumpster near their home.
The trial, which lasted several days, included testimony from FBI agents, law enforcement, and family members. Sentencing is expected to follow soon, closing a high-profile case that gripped the Savannah community.
The defense argued Simon’s inconsistent statements were linked to her struggles with substance abuse, but the jury sided with the prosecution, convicting her of malice murder, felony murder, and concealing a death. The trial marks a tragic end to the search for justice for Quinton Simon.
