Houston police: Mother fatally shoots 2 children, then herself at hotel, investigators say

HOUSTON (BFMG) — A woman shot and killed her two young children before taking her own life inside a Houston hotel room, authorities said Friday.

Emergency crews were called to a Marriott Residence Inn in southwest Houston on Friday morning after hotel staff reported that a guest had not been seen or heard from since Wednesday, according to local media reports. When staff members checked the room, they found a 40-year-old woman dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, along with her 6-year-old daughter and 9-year-old son, both dead from gunshot wounds.

“Right now, preliminarily, we believe this to be a murder-suicide,” Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson said. “This does appear to involve mental health issues.”

Investigators said it was not immediately clear when the shootings occurred, but they believe the deaths happened before Friday. The mother and children had not been publicly identified as of Saturday.

The investigation remains ongoing.
