Man Charged with Murder After Human Remains Identified as Missing Darlington Woman

DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (BFMG) — Deputies have charged a man who allegedly kidnapped and murdered a woman missing since September from Darlington, SC. An arrest in this case comes shortly after her body was found last week in a wooded area.

Daniel Peel was arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping and obstruction of justice, according to Jordyn Jefferson, Public Information Officer for the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.

The investigation comes as authorities search for 49-year-old Shamra Hope Felkel, who was reported missing by her family on Oct. 7. Felkel was last seen on Sept. 25 in the area of New Market Road in Hartsville. 

Her remains were found off Ruby Road, according to a spokesperson for the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies remained on the scene Wednesday as the investigation continued.
