MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (BFMG) — The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the suspicious disappearance of a woman and her two children last seen Jan. 30 at their home in the 9000 block of Ben Hamilton Road.
Deputies responded to the residence Jan. 31 after family members reported the three missing. Investigators identified the missing woman as Aurelia Choc Cac, 40. She is described as 5 feet tall, 140 pounds, with black hair, and was last seen wearing a maroon jacket and tan joggers.
Her daughter, Niurka Zuleta Choc, 17, is described as 5 feet 1 inch tall, 100 pounds, with black hair, and was last seen wearing a black top and plaid pants. Her son, Anthony Garcia Choc, 2, has black hair, weighs about 30 pounds, and was last seen wearing a cartoon character hoodie and blue jeans.
The family was last seen around 3 p.m. Jan. 30 at their home. Investigators said evidence at the scene indicated signs of a struggle inside the residence.
A person of interest was located and interviewed early in the investigation but has since been ruled out as a suspect.
On Feb. 9, deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on Apache Run in Theodore as part of the ongoing criminal investigation. The target of the warrant, Juan Carlos Argueta Guerra, was not at the home during the search but was later stopped by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said Guerra attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by K-9 units. He was taken into custody and charged with three counts of kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of Aurelia, Niurka and Anthony.
The case remains active, and investigators are working with federal and state partners, including the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office.
