HONOLULU (BFMG) — A 50-year-old Oklahoma flight attendant was found dead at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki, prompting a death investigation by Honolulu police.
Jenny Lupton, of Moore, Oklahoma, was found shortly before 9 p.m. Friday, according to reporting by News 9. Police have not publicly released a cause or manner of death.
Lupton was an Oklahoma native and a 1993 graduate of Moore High School. She joined Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant in August 2002 and spent 24 years with the airline, according to her Facebook profile.
Friends remembered Lupton online as an enthusiastic Oklahoma City Thunder fan who frequently posted about the team and its games on Facebook.
Her death has left family and friends in Moore grieving as investigators in Hawaii work to determine what happened.
The Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner is responsible for determining the cause and manner of death in cases investigated by authorities. Officials have not indicated that Lupton’s death was suspicious or that it involved foul play.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and authorities have not announced any arrests or identified a suspect.
News 9 first reported Lupton’s death and identified her as an Oklahoma native. A meal train has also been established for her family, according to the station.
Her family says, “She was the light of every party, the person who could make a room brighter simply by being in it. She had a personality that was impossible to forget, and if you knew her, you probably have a funny story about her.“
— She leaves behind a son, Kaleb, who is her pride and joy.
For now, Lupton’s family and friends are awaiting answers from investigators more than 4,000 miles away in Hawaii.
Our outlet reached out to the Honolulu Police Department for further information on Sunday and have yet to reach their public information office. We’ve also reached out to Southwest Airlines for comment, we’re awaiting a reply from the airline at this time.
The investigation remains ongoing. We will continue to update this case as we learn more.
