EASLEY, S.C. (BFMG) — On Saturday, July 13, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers from the Easley Police Department responded to a domestic violence call at 117 Scott Avenue. The incident involved a male suspect and a female victim. As officers were en route, they received additional information that the male suspect had shoved the female, causing her to hit her head.
Upon arrival, officers observed a woman and a juvenile standing outside the residence. The officers saw the male suspect re-enter the home. While some officers spoke with the individuals outside to gather more information, others attempted to establish contact with the suspect inside the home.
During the attempt to communicate, the suspect barricaded himself within the residence. Shortly thereafter, the suspect opened a door, presented a weapon, and ultimately pointed it at the officers. In response, at least one officer discharged their duty weapon.
The scene was promptly secured, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was called to take over the investigation. The scene and the ongoing investigation are now under SLED’s jurisdiction. Further details about the incident and the condition of the involved individuals have not been released.
The Easley Police Department has stated that they will fully cooperate with SLED during the investigation and will provide updates as more information becomes available. Community members are urged to remain calm and await the results of the official investigation.
