CLEVELAND (BFMG) — Police in Cleveland are asking for the public’s help after the bodies of two young girls were found stuffed in suitcases and buried in shallow graves, launching a major homicide investigation.
A man walking his dog on Monday night, March 2, called authorities after discovering what appeared to be a body inside a suitcase. Responding officers found the body of a young girl inside a suitcase buried in a shallow grave. As they searched the surrounding area for additional evidence, officers located a second shallow grave nearby containing another suitcase, which also held a body.
Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd said both victims are believed to be girls. One is estimated to be between 8½ and 13 years old, and the other between 10½ and 14 years old. There was no immediately apparent cause of death, and investigators believe the bodies had been at the site for an extended period.
Detectives said the girls do not appear to match any current missing persons reports. Chief Todd said local, state and federal partners are assisting and called the case a priority for the department. She described the discovery as traumatic for officers and the community and urged anyone with information to come forward.
UPDATE 3/4/2026
