AIKEN, S.C. (BFMG) — A South Carolina veterinarian has been charged with murder following a deadly shooting Sunday, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.
Dr. Jennifer Kerri Ray is accused of killing Greg Baughman at a residence in the 1000 block of Prides Crossing in Aiken. Deputies responded to the home at about 5 p.m. on Dec. 1 and discovered Baughman lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds. Surrounding the body were several spent bullet casings, and a black handgun was recovered from the kitchen counter, authorities said.

The Aiken County Coroner’s Office pronounced Baughman dead at 6:30 p.m.
An arrest warrant stated that Ray shot Baughman “multiple times in the back and multiple times while he was lying on the floor.” The pair had reportedly been separated since late August, with Baughman filing for legal separation two months later, according to civil court documents. Ray had also sought a court order to prevent either party from depleting marital assets according to
During a court hearing Monday, Ray’s attorney alleged that she had been a victim of domestic abuse and required hospitalization last month. Ray reportedly told the court she did not press charges earlier because her husband was a Marine, and she feared the accusations could jeopardize his career.
Ray has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. She remains in custody without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on March 14.
