AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. (BFMG) — The search for 4-year-old Javeayah Harris remains ongoing as authorities in South Carolina shift their strategy after days of intensive search efforts that have so far not located the child.
Since Javeayah was reported missing, the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office has led a large-scale, coordinated response involving local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Investigators say the search has included ground and air operations, neighborhood canvassing, roadblocks and a range of other investigative techniques.
Officials estimate that more than 5,000 acres have been covered during the search.
Despite those efforts, authorities say Javeayah has not been found. Investigators have also conducted numerous interviews, including with members of the child’s family, as part of the ongoing investigation.
In the coming days, officials say search operations will become less visible to the public. Organized search activity will be reduced, and some resources — including the forward mobile command center and roadblocks — will be scaled back or removed.
Authorities emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
“The search for Javeayah will not stop until we find her,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
Officials are asking anyone who may see Javeayah to call 911 immediately. Tips can also be reported to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 502-5200. Anyone with potentially relevant video is urged to submit it to investigators through the sheriff’s office tip portal.
