TANNER, Ala. (BFMG) — A Tinder meet-up in Limestone County led to an armed robbery and two arrests after deputies say a man was held at gunpoint and robbed when he arrived to meet a woman arranged through the dating app.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded around July 5, 2026, to the 11000 block of Stewart Road in Tanner for a reported armed robbery. According to a preliminary investigation, the victim had connected with a woman on Tinder and agreed to meet at a predetermined location. When he arrived, deputies say he was confronted by a man and woman and robbed at gunpoint.

Investigators with the sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene, processed evidence and interviewed witnesses. During the course of the investigation, deputies developed information that led them to the suspects a short distance from the scene, the sheriff’s office said.

A search warrant was obtained and executed at a nearby residence. Investigators say they recovered property believed to have been stolen during the robbery, along with a firearm suspected of being used in the crime.

Deputies said probable cause was established to arrest James Christopher Toney and Erika Rose Parr. Both were charged with first-degree robbery and possession of marijuana and taken to the Limestone County Jail, where they are awaiting an initial appearance before a judge. Bond will be set by the court.

Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin praised the joint work of patrol and investigators that led to the quick arrests.

“This case is an excellent example of the outstanding work our patrol deputies and investigators do every day,” McLaughlin said in a statement. “Their quick response, attention to detail, and coordinated efforts allowed us to identify and apprehend these suspects in a very short period of time. Violent crimes like this will not be tolerated in Limestone County, and we will continue to aggressively pursue those who threaten the safety of our citizens.”
