DUNCAN, S.C. (BFMG) — Two women have been charged with murder in connection with the death of a man found earlier this month at a South Carolina hotel, following their arrest in Pennsylvania during a stolen vehicle investigation.
On April 17, 38-year-old Alexander Casull was found dead at the WoodSpring Suites Hotel on Frontage Road in Duncan, South Carolina. Duncan police later identified Latesha Fields, 31, and Payton Deal, 27, as persons of interest in the case.
On April 20, at approximately 1:10 p.m., officers with the Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police in Pennsylvania located an unoccupied stolen vehicle in the parking lot of the Quality Inn at 200 N. Mountain Road. The vehicle had been reported stolen from Charlotte, North Carolina.
An investigation led police to Fields and Deal, who were both staying at the hotel. Officers, with support from the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team, arrested the women without incident at approximately 4:20 p.m.
Both were arraigned at the Dauphin County Booking Center on charges of receiving stolen property. They were denied bond and remain in Dauphin County Prison awaiting extradition to South Carolina.
On Wednesday, the Duncan Police Department confirmed Fields and Deal have been officially charged with murder in connection with Casull’s death according to WYFF. They also face additional felony charges in South Carolina, including weapons violations and grand larceny.
No further details have been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
