GREENVILLE, S.C.(BFMG) — Two people found shot to death inside a Greenville residence Sunday have been identified, with authorities ruling one death a homicide and the other a suicide.
Greenville police responded to the residence located at 18 Briargate Place at approximately 11:28 a.m. September 14th after receiving a report of two people found dead inside.
Officers discovered two individuals who had each suffered at least one gunshot wound.
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office (GCCO) responded and identified the victims as Kimyetta Aaliy Melton (23). and Angel Micquel Patterson (26).
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Following what the coroner described as a parallel investigation and subsequent autopsies, investigators determined that Melton died from multiple gunshot wounds. Melton’s manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Patterson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the coroner. Patterson’s manner of death was ruled a suicide.
The findings indicate investigators are treating the deaths as connected, with one person fatally shot and the other dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Greenville Police Department (GPD) have not immediately released additional details about what investigators believe led to the shooting or the relationship between Melton and Patterson.
The investigation remains under the direction of the Greenville Police Department and Greenville County Coroner’s Office.
