ATLANTA (BFMG) — A woman convicted in the death of 19-year-old Morgan Bauer, whose remains were discovered seven years after she disappeared, was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Katelyn Goble was sentenced Sept. 1, 2026, in connection with Bauer’s killing. She is the second person convicted in the case.
Jonathan Alexander Warren pleaded guilty in Newton County in January 2024 to malice murder, necrophilia, concealing the death of another and tampering with evidence. He was also sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Bauer, a South Dakota native, disappeared in 2016 after moving to the Atlanta area.
Investigators renewed their search for Bauer in July 2023 after authorities said new evidence led them to a property in Newton County. Law enforcement searched a home on Broad Street near the Yellow River in Porterdale.
Bauer’s remains were discovered in Porterdale during the investigation, according to the FBI. Authorities said her body had been dismembered and burned.
Warren and Goble were arrested the following month in separate states. Warren was taken into custody in Los Angeles, while Goble was arrested in Peoria, Illinois.
The pair were later indicted in Newton County in connection with Bauer’s death and disappearance.
Warren’s guilty plea resolved the criminal case against him in 2024. Goble’s conviction and life sentence now mark the second life-without-parole sentence handed down in the case.
