CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (BFMG) — A man accused of killing a pregnant woman in Pineville, Kentucky, was arrested in Tennessee on Sept. 30 following a weeklong investigation, authorities said.
DeMarcus Kenneth Johnson-Wright was taken into custody at a home in Clarksville in connection with the death of April Barlow Celio, (41), according to a press release by Pineville Police Department (PPD).
Pineville police found Celio dead Sept. 23 at a home in the 300 block of George Martin Drive. Police and the Bell County Coroner’s Office (BCCO) determined her death was a homicide.
Investigators learned the following day that Celio had been pregnant. The State Medical Examiner’s Office found no fetus in her womb, and investigators recovered what they believed to be fetal remains while processing the scene, WYMT reported. The reports did not explain how the remains became separated from her body.
Bell County District Court issued warrants for Johnson-Wright on Sept. 25 for first-degree robbery and kidnapping of an adult. Additional warrants for murder involving domestic violence and tampering with physical evidence were issued Sept. 30, according to authorities.
U.S. Marshals, assisted by Clarksville police (CPD) and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), arrested Johnson-Wright at a home on Timber Court Drive. Investigators subsequently searched the residence under a warrant and recovered materials related to the case, authorities said.
Johnson-Wright was booked into the Montgomery County Detention Center (MCDC) pending extradition to Kentucky. The investigation remains ongoing, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
