MARYLAND (BFMG) — An FBI agent was arrested Monday in Montgomery County, Maryland, and is facing charges of sexually assaulting two women, authorities said.
Montgomery County detectives are investigating and believe there may be additional victims. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
“The FBI takes allegations of criminal violations and misconduct very seriously. We are aware of the matter involving the recent arrest of an FBI employee and are fully cooperating with the Montgomery County Police Department. Because this is an ongoing investigation, the FBI cannot comment further,” the agency said in a statement.
The agent, identified as Eduardo Valdivia, has been charged with multiple felony and misdemeanor offenses, including two counts of second-degree rape for alleged assaults that occurred in May and September 2024. No further details about the charges have been released.
This is not Valdivia’s first time in legal trouble. He was previously acquitted of attempted murder in 2022 after shooting a man on a Metro train near Washington, D.C., while off duty. The incident occurred in 2020 following an alleged verbal altercation. The victim survived but required extensive medical treatment, including the removal of part or all of his spleen, colon, and pancreas.
Valdivia, who claimed he acted in self-defense during the Metro train shooting, was found not guilty of attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and reckless endangerment by a Maryland jury. He continued working for the FBI after his acquittal.
The current case remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed further information.
