OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (BFMG) — An unlicensed security guard has been arrested after deputies say he handcuffed a woman and hit her in the face multiple times during a weekend party in Seneca, South Carolina.
Shortly after midnight Sunday, deputies with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported disturbance at a home on Tollkeepers Lane near Edinburgh Way and West Cherry Road.
While investigating, deputies were told about a separate incident involving an adult woman who said she was handcuffed by a man later identified as Jordan Lebron Hardesty of Toccoa, Georgia.
Deputies spoke with Hardesty, who said he was working as a security guard for the party, but he told investigators he is not certified by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and does not hold any formal security certification, according to the sheriff’s office.
The woman told deputies she had asked security guards to remove a person from the party, but they refused, leading to a verbal argument between her and Hardesty. She said Hardesty then put her in handcuffs and struck her in the face multiple times.
Based on the investigation, Hardesty was arrested and charged with kidnapping and third-degree assault and battery. He was booked into the Oconee County Detention Center and given a combined bond of about $26,000.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing.
