“We are closer to getting answers for the families who lost loved ones and for the other victims of this horrific event,” the FBI stated, crediting an outpouring of public assistance for advancing the investigation.
The ongoing inquiry has identified 136 victims, including two businesses that suffered damages during the attack. Evidence suggests Jabbar, who grew increasingly devout in his Muslim faith in 2022, began to isolate himself from society. By the spring of 2024, he appeared to have adopted extremist views.
Timeline and Evidence of Jabbar’s Activities
Investigators revealed that Jabbar traveled from Houston, Texas, to New Orleans on November 10, 2024, to view an apartment on Orleans Street. He returned to Texas the same evening via bus and later applied to rent the apartment, though he ultimately withdrew his application.
An analysis of Jabbar’s electronics uncovered a series of troubling searches, including queries about accessing balconies on Bourbon Street, information about Mardi Gras, and details about shootings in New Orleans. Just hours before the attack, Jabbar searched for information on a car ramming incident in Germany that occurred ten days earlier.
The FBI has also examined thousands of videos and photos related to the case, many submitted through its digital tip line. The bureau urged anyone with information or footage of the attack to contact authorities via www.fbi.gov/bourbonstreetattack or call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
No On-Camera Interviews
The FBI emphasized that it will not provide on-camera interviews at this time as the investigation continues. Authorities remain committed to uncovering the full scope of Jabbar’s actions and motivations.
This incident has deeply shaken the New Orleans community, with many victims and families still grappling with the aftermath of the attack.
