CINCINNATI (BFMG) — Nine people were wounded in a mass shooting inside the Riverfront Live music venue in Cincinnati’s East End early Sunday, authorities said.
Gunfire erupted just after 1 a.m. during a crowded event at the venue, which drew an estimated hundreds of attendees. Police said nine victims were taken to local hospitals. All were reported to be in stable or non-life-threatening condition as of the latest update, though at least one had initially been listed in critical condition.
Investigators said the shooting happened during a late-night party at the venue. Detectives are still working to determine how the shooter got inside and what led up to the gunfire.
The suspect, or suspects, remained at large as of Monday. Local and federal law enforcement agencies are assisting in the investigation, and authorities have urged anyone with video or information from inside or outside the venue around the time of the shooting to come forward.
Riverfront Live’s ownership has said the club uses metal detectors and pat-downs at the entrance, and expressed frustration over how an armed person was able to enter the building. City leaders called the incident a dark moment for Cincinnati and vowed to review security measures and support the victims as the investigation continues.
