SUMTER, S.C. (BFMG) — Police are searching for a Sumter man accused of pistol-whipping a toddler and an adult during an assault inside a Broad Street store, and are offering a cash reward for information leading to his location.
According to the Sumter Police Department, 32-year-old Rayshon Jamaal Foster is wanted on multiple charges after officers say he entered the business, pulled a gun and attacked a 21-year-old man who was holding a 2-year-old child.
Investigators said Foster allegedly struck the man several times with the firearm, also hitting the toddler during the assault.
Both the man and the child were injured and taken to Prisma Health Tuomey, where they were treated and later released, authorities said.
Foster faces several charges, including possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent felony, three counts of pointing and presenting a firearm, and two counts of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Police said Foster should be considered armed and dangerous.
A reward of up to 2,500 dollars is being offered for information that helps locate Foster, according to Sumter police.
Anyone who sees Foster or knows where he may be is urged to call the Sumter Police Department at 803-436-2700. Tipsters may remain anonymous depending on the reporting method.
