MIAMI (BFMG) — Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested by federal authorities Saturday in Miami, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Brady McCarron, a spokesperson for the Marshals Service, told The Associated Press that the arrest warrant was sealed and did not immediately provide further details about the specific U.S. charges or conditions of their detention.
Later Saturday, British prosecutors said they would seek the brothers’ extradition to the United Kingdom to face rape and sex trafficking charges. The alleged offenses occurred between July 2010 and August 2017, the Crown Prosecution Service said in a statement.
Andrew and Tristan Tate, dual U.S. and British citizens, are known for promoting a brand of hypermasculinity and unapologetic misogyny to millions of followers across social media platforms. The former professional kickboxers have built a lucrative online empire centered on luxury lifestyles, wealth, and aggressive self-help messaging, particularly targeting young men and boys.
The brothers moved to Romania in 2016 and were arrested there in 2022, accused of participating in schemes that allegedly lured women for sexual exploitation. They denied those allegations, and that case did not proceed after what authorities described as legal and procedural irregularities.
The pending charges in the United Kingdom accuse the Tates of abusing women between 2012 and 2015 in an area north of London, where they grew up. Their lawyers have said the brothers deny the allegations and intend to contest the UK case.
Authorities in both countries did not immediately say when the Tates might appear in U.S. court or outline a timetable for the UK extradition proceedings.
