BERRIEN COUNTY, Ga. (BFMG) — A 15-year-old in south Georgia has been arrested in connection with a shooting that killed a 42-year-old man, authorities said.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Austin Abrams of Ray City was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the death of Michael Paris, also of Ray City.
Deputies responded Monday night to a report of a shooting on Weaver Road in Ray City, a small city in Berrien County. When they arrived, they found Paris in the road with gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The state medical examiner in Macon will perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, the GBI said.
Abrams was arrested and booked into the Waycross Regional Youth Detention Center.
The investigation remains open. Authorities said the case will be turned over to the Alapaha District Attorney’s Office once it is complete.
