TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. (BFMG) — Authorities have launched a manhunt for a Tennessee man accused of killing four members of his girlfriend’s family, after a baby was found abandoned in a car seat on a stranger’s lawn earlier this week.
The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has identified the suspect as 28-year-old Austin Robert Drummond. He is wanted in connection to the deaths of James M. Wilson, 21; Adrianna Williams, 20; Cortney Rose, 38; and Braydon Williams, 15. All four were found dead Tuesday in Tiptonville, approximately 125 miles north of Memphis.
Officials say the victims were relatives of Drummond’s current girlfriend. Rose and Adrianna were half-sisters, and the Williams siblings were Adrianna’s niece and nephew.
“This was a targeted attack,” said Danny Goodman Jr., attorney general for Tennessee’s 29th Judicial District. “We don’t believe the community is at risk from a random assailant.”
The investigation began after a passerby discovered an infant in a car seat on a residential lawn and called 911. Authorities posted a photo of the child on social media, which led to the identification of the baby’s relatives and ultimately the discovery of the four victims. The child is related to all four deceased individuals, according to FOX 13.
Drummond has a criminal history, including a conviction for armed robbery at age 17. He was released from prison despite having pending attempted murder charges stemming from his time in custody, Goodman said.
Drummond is wanted on charges including four counts of first-degree murder, kidnapping, multiple counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
“This is a deeply saddening day for our community,” Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said in a statement. “We are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.”
Drummond is considered armed and dangerous. He is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 190 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes and a goatee. He may be driving a silver 2016 Audi A3 with Tennessee license plate RI 01896 and damage to the driver’s side.
Anyone with information on Drummond’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office at (731) 285-2802 or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at 1-800-TBI-FIND.
