ATLANTA (BFMG) — An 18-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday night during an argument about selling T-shirts near State Farm Arena, police said.
Atlanta police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 10:12 p.m. on Nassau Street, near Centennial Olympic Park Drive NW.
Officers arrived to find Dexter Devaughn Hoefer Savage Jr., 18, with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead according to Fox5 (Atlanta)
“It appears there was an argument over parking in order to sell T-shirts from the concert,” said Lt. Andrew Smith, commander of the Atlanta Police Homicide Unit.
According to State Farm Arena’s website, the evening’s concert featured Creed and 3 Doors Down.
Police cordoned off the area with crime scene tape, blocking the roadway between SkyView Atlanta and Ted Turner Drive NW. Investigators canvassed the scene, gathering surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses.
